Eddie J. Jackson was born on June 2nd, 1970, in Phenix City, Alabama, to the late Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. and Girlee Jackson. He attended Dixie Elementary School and was a 1989 high school graduate from Chavala High School. As a young child, Eddie accepted Jesus Christ at St. John Missionary Baptist Church and began singing in the Church Choir at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, he joined a local gospel group called the Hebrew Travelers. While in this gospel group, he began singing in various groups and performing in talent shows in Alabama and Georgia. As a member of Saint Smyrna Baptist Church, Eddie began singing in the Sanctuary Choir and the Male Chorus. He was ordained as a Deacon under Pastor Tamarkus T. Cook. On August 11th, 1992, he moved to New York to pursue his musical career in singing, writing, and producing music. Eddie was one of the three founding members of the R&B group, First Class. The group later changed their name to Envizhun. While pursuing his music career, Eddie was featured on the Red Star Sounds compilation CD that also featured Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and India Arie, which was released in 2001 on Epic Records. Eddie then went on to write four albums of his own. During his time in New York, he was also employed at Lenox Hill Hospital. After twelve years in New York, Eddie moved to Newnan, Georgia and was employed as a welder at Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation. He also started his own photography business to capture the precious memories of others. He was proceeded in death by his parents Mr. Eddie Lee Jackson and Mrs. Girlee Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving, devoted wife of 22 years, Cassandra Jackson; two beautiful daughters, Kayla Jackson and Adrianna Jackson; a caring sister, Elaine Simpson; a loving brother, David Huguley (Marilyn); a niece, Tammie Long (Sylvester); a nephew, Major Simpson Jr.; two loving great nieces, Latasha Weeks (Kyle) and Alexis Person; a special brother-in-law, Clifford Davis, Jr. (Sonya); a caring sister-in-law, Jackie Carmichael; a loving mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clifford Davis, Sr. (Florine); a special cousin, Johnny Nunn, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, relatives, and friends. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 , 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at Cook Brothers Funeral Directors - 268 NW Broad Street, Fairburn, GA 30213. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place Saturday, January 9, 2021, 11 AM, at Saint Smyrna Baptist Church - 68 Heery Road, Newnan, GA 30263. Interment will immediately follow in the St. John Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery - 4577 US 80, Phenix City, AL 36870. All family members, friends and well-wishers are required to wear face masks to attend all services.
