Ms. Flora Murray

September 27, 1956 - April 10, 2022

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, our beloved Flora Jean Murray ascended to her heavenly home with the Lord Jesus Christ. Flora was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, on September 27, 1956, to the late Oscar Wright, Sr, and the late Mary Jean Cope. Flora graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School in 1973. Flora furthered her education at Georgia State University, where she earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology in 2006. Flora continued her education at Capella University, where she earned a Master's Degree in Human Counseling in 2008 and a Master's Certificate in Adult Education in 2010. Flora gained tenure at DeVry University, and in her later years, she was an instructor at Phoenix University for approximately one year.   Flora was a devoted mother to her two sons and continuously supported them with love and admiration. She was a great and loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, spouse, and scholar. Flora let her light shine through various acts of care, love, devotion, and strength. Whether she cared for those who did not have the means to care for themselves or exhibited strength in times of turmoil and chaos, Flora remained a beacon of hope and love. Flora leaves behind the following to cherish her memories: Willie James Fears (Son),  Carter Murray, Jr. (Son), Portia Murray (Granddaughter), Jamie Fears (Granddaughter), Eli Baynard (Great Grandson), Joseph (Patricia) Armstrong (Brother), Jacquelyn (Timothy) Green (Sister), Daron Cope (Brother), Arthur (Lorraine), Shipman (Brother), and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Flora was preceded in death by the following loved ones: Oscar Wright, Sr (Father), Mary Jean Cope (Mother), Alfrieda (Mose) Thomas (Sister), Oscar Wright Jr. (Brother), Michael Cope (Brother), Robert Cope (Brother),  James Cope (Brother), and Charmaine (Daron) Cope (Sister-in-Law). Graveside service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, 11:00 AM at Lakeside Memorial Gardens- 7780 Ono Rd, Palmetto, GA 30268.
