    Mr. Mose L. Thomas

    June 14, 1942 - April 16, 2022

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Mose (James) has earned his wings. He answered the call on Saturday, April 16, 2022, and took his final flight to his eternal home. As a result, our hearts are less bright; however, we know the Heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace, and laughter. James was born in Clopton Alabama on June 14,1942 and was the fourth child of the late Logia and Maebell Thomas. At a young age, Mose changed his name to James Albert and demanded to be called James, which is what his family and friends began calling him. He became a member of Friendship Baptist Church, in his hometown of Clopton, Alabama. After attending the Henry County School, James left Alabama, Some of the places he lived were Trenton, NJ and Miami, FL before making his home in Atlanta, GA and becoming a member of Woods Memorial Baptist Church in College Park, GA. James was a loving man, full of wisdom and knowledge. He always had a smile on his face and a way of making others smile. He was truly a wise and insightful man who was fond of helping others and lending a hand whenever he could. James worked for the Fulton County School System for many years before his health began to fail. He enjoyed taking daily walks with his coffee, fishing, travelling, attending his grandson’s sporting events, watching western movies, and spending time with family and friends. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Thomas; his parents, Logia and Maebell Thomas; his sister, Cassie Anglin; three brothers, Charlie Thomas, Logia Thomas, Rodell Thomas and his loving wife, Alfrieda Thomas. Although James’ journey has ended, his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends he left behind. He is survived by his children, Doris Thomas (Union, NJ), Mose (Tonya) Thomas (Ewing, NJ), Willester (La’Quandra)Thomas (Montgomery, AL), Tonnette (Clifford) Thomas (Sicklerville, NJ), Billy (Larcella) Thomas (Trenton, NJ), Denise (Issac) McKune (Miami, Florida), Lacrecea Thomas (College Park, GA) James Leon Thomas (College Park, GA), Latasha (Darrell) Bell (Newnan, GA), twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, five siblings, Mary Peterman, Ida Bell Taylor, Billy Thomas, (Edwin, AL); Ella Washington (Ronald) and Marion Thomas (Miami, FL), sister-in-law Jacquelyn-Dolly (Timothy) Green (Fairburn, GA); Two brothers-in-laws, Joseph (Patricia) Armstrong (Decatur, GA) and Daron Cope (Fayetteville, GA). His memories will also be cherished by a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 4 - 8 PM at Cook Brothers Funeral Directors - 268 NW Broad St. Fairburn, GA 30213.
